HELLO FROM A SNOWY ELKHORN GOLF CLUB
We hope this winter season is treating you well,
wherever you may be. As most of you are aware, there are many changes
going on at the golf course. We would like to take this opportunity to
clarify any confusion regarding the golf rights of the Elkhorn property
owners. Our ownership group has readily accepted to follow the agreement
with SVEA for access to the golf course as was set by a previous owner.
Upon our reopening of the course in 2005, we will be a
private member golf club. Regardless of whether we are public,
semi-private, or private, the privileges of SVEA remain the same. Our
agreement is that we reserve the following for SVEA:
Two early morning tee times, two mid morning tee
times and two afternoon tee times (before 2:00 p.m.). You will have
between three and six days in advance to reserve one of these times.
In addition, you may also play any available times after 3:00 p.m.
It will be mandatory to show your SVEA Amenity Card to have access
to playing. We view this agreement as a tremendous benefit to you
the property owner, your houseguests, and tenants as you all will
have non-member access to a private golf club.
Currently the renovation of the golf course is on hold
due to winter and we eagerly anticipate construction continuing as soon
as the weather permits this spring. The scope of the project includes a
new irrigation system, rebuilt greens, refurbished bunkers, tee box
improvements and additions, and other various projects. Also scheduled
this summer, pending approval, is the construction of a new clubhouse
that will help us better serve all those who come to the Elkhorn Golf
Club.
Please understand that the golf course is Private
Property and we will, more than before, enforce our NO Trespassing
policy. We cannot emphasize enough how this is for your own safety,
especially this year due to the dangerous conditions during construction
(holes, trenches, equipment). In the past many have felt that this open
space and green grass must be a park and have used the golf course for
personal recreation (walking the dog, searching for golf balls, playing
Frisbee, mountain biking…only to name a few). There is no public
easement unless you have paid to play golf, although it is the owner’s
hope to provide cross-country skiing during future winter seasons. Even
after construction is complete the turf on many parts of the golf course
will be in the new growth state and very susceptible to damage. We
understand that many of you are interested in seeing what is happening
on the golf course and we would be happy to arrange a time to personally
go out on the course with you to view and discuss these exciting
changes.
Please call us at 208-622-3300 or stop by the
clubhouse (next to the Elkhorn Chairlift) if you have questions or would
like information regarding a membership opportunity.
Thank you,
Elkhorn Golf Club
