2005 SVEA Questionnaire
With our October statements we sent out a questionnaire
to all Elkhorn homeowners asking for the following information:
Amenities wanted & used, duration of stay in Elkhorn per year, updated
phone & emails, if rented how many days per year is property occupied by
guests, and additional comments or concerns.
SVEA mailed out 1540 questionnaires and received a
response from 57% of our homeowners.
Of those responders 68% were condominium owners and
32% were homeowners, 33% requested additional amenities or replied with
comments or concerns, 73% use the pool, 44% play tennis, 40% golf, 27%
access the park, and 12% use none of the amenities.
24% of our owners reside in Elkhorn 6 or more months
a year, 16% occupy their residence 3-6 months, 26% live here 2-3 months
and 34% are here less than 30 days per year. We also found out that 23%
of Elkhorn owners rent their home or condo. Of that number 27% rent 6
months or more, 14% rent for 3-6 months, and 59% rent for less than 3
months.
Of the 33% that requested additional amenities or
replied with comments we have listed in order of preference the
communication and ideas we received.

- Later pool season & longer hours 4%
- Outdoor hot tub at Harker Center 4%
At 3% or less the following suggestions for updated
amenities were given:
Updated signs for Elkhorn, maintain ponds and use for
trout stocking, skating rink, stables and horse trails, bathroom at
tennis, additional adult swim hours, better weed control, recycling
area, more parking at the Harker Center, new community room/clubhouse
with commercial kitchen, allow flotation devices in pools, wireless
internet, revitalize tennis program, tennis camp for adults, cut back
costs of tennis program , more security on loose dogs, continued access
to Elkhorn lift, ski pass for Elkhorn owners, too much density-please
regulate, looking forward to completed construction at the old Village,
concern about traffic/congestion in Elkhorn, area becoming less child
friendly, dislikes the Californication of Elkhorn & a tree trimming
policy to preserve views.

What are the hours of operation of the pool facilities in the winter?
There are no swimming pools open in the winter. The Village facility
with hot tub, sauna and a steam room is open from 3pm-9pm daily during
the winter season.
How long is the winter season?
The winter season is from Thanksgiving thru April 15th.
Are both the Harker facility and the Village facility open in the
winter?
No, the Village facility is the only facility open in the winter.
Is there a workout facility in Elkhorn?
Not at this time.
When do the pools open for summer use?
The Harker pool generally opens on Memorial weekend and the Village
pool opens in mid June.
When do the tennis courts open?
The tennis courts at both the Village and at the Harker Center open
in May and close in late fall. Organized programs run from May 15th
through September 15th.
As Elkhorn owners what amenities can we use?
Elkhorn owners have access to all of the amenities in Elkhorn, at
both the Village and the Harker Center.
Do Elkhorn owners get a discount on golf?
Yes, the owners of the Elkhorn golf course offer Elkhorn owners and
their guests a 10% discount on greens fees. There is no discount offered
on golf memberships for Elkhorn owners.
Are amenity cards always required to use the amenities?
Yes.
How do I arrange to get guest cards for my guests, do I have to pick
them up?
Owners can pick up guest cards, or simply call the office with your
guest information and when your guests arrive they can come into the
office and pick up their cards.
How do my guests get into the facility if they arrive after the
office is closed?
Owners and guests have access to the facilities without an amenity
card if the office is closed.
How much do the amenity cards cost?
There is no charge for amenity cards, or for the use of the
amenities. If owners or guests would like to participate in any of the
organized swim or tennis programs there are fees for these programs.
Are the amenities open to the public?
No, the amenities are for Elkhorn owners and guests.
When does the Architectural Design Committee (ADC) meet?
The Architectural Design Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the
month at 9am at the Harker Center.
How much are dues?
Dues are $630 per year per property and are billed semi-annually.
The billing cycles are November through April and May through October.
What are dues used for?
Dues cover the maintenance and management of all of the amenities,
association insurance, administrative staff, and all other expenses
associated with running a homeowners association.
I know the Bridge Club meets at the Harker Center, how do I find out
times?
The Association does not sponsor Bridge, for information call Peter
Gray at 726-5997.
How much open space is owned by the Association?
The Association owns approximately 1800+ acres of open space
throughout Elkhorn.
What would I have to do to be on the Board of Directors for the
Elkhorn Association?
Fill out and send the Board of Directors

How often does the Board meet?
There are quarterly Board meetings, the summer membership meeting
and the annual meeting. However if there are pressing matters the Board
will call special meetings.
